SCOTT TRIAL COMPLETED IN ONE PIECE!

John Wallis of the GSC Grays Leyburn office successfully completed the Scott Trial on Saturday, an event considered by many to be the toughest single day event in the world of Motorcyling.  Although John described himself as a ‘broken man’ when he crossed the finish line, an hour inside the allocated time, he was over the moon to have got round the course intact!

The Scott Trial, originated in 1914, when Alfred Scott, inventor and founder of the Scott Motorcycle Company, issued a challenge to his workers at the Scott motorcycle factory and those of his local agent. The challenge was to ride and navigate their way from the factory in Shipley through the Yorkshire Dales on a prescribed route to Bumsall. Of the 14 starters only 9 finished.  The Trial now runs over an off-road course of some 84 miles with 76 different sections held in stunning Swaledale countryside.

The event this year was won by Red Bull athlete Dougie Lampkin for the fourth time, despite him having sustained a painful injury to his left foot during the event.
