Beware – Changes to Pesticide Rules

Loss of Grandfather Rights

New Regulations that come into force from 25th November 2015 will remove the ‘Grandfather Rights’ exemption for the purchase and use of pesticides. Post 25th November 2015 anyone who buys a professional pesticide product must ensure that the end user holds the required certificate.

Previously anyone born before 31st December 1964 who used an agricultural product on their land or their employees land were exempt from the requirement to hold a certificate of competence.

This is a legal requirement under “The Plant Protection Products (Sustainable Use) Regulations 2012”. Failure to comply could result in prosecution and a reduction in your BPS payment.
