New Additions to the GSC Grays Team!

Helen Allison – Agency Marketing Manager, Barnard Castle

Helen is a Yorkshire girl through and through, enjoying a care free childhood close to Masham.  Brought up on a dairy & sheep farm, countryside is in her blood and even after spending three years doing a degree in hospitality management at Leeds, the bright lights didn’t tempt her to become a city dweller. A final year dissertation interview led to her first job with Black Sheep following her graduation.  In 1994 Helen started at the brewery as a PA and receptionist, where she looked after shop merchandise and elements of visitor centre marketing.  Helen was instrumental in developing a brand new visitor centre that opened in 1996.  Subsequently promoted to Marketing Manager, Helen looked after advertising, sponsorship and new product development. Helen looked after events such as the Yorkshire Show for the brewery and one of her most memorable events was organising Le Grand Party in Masham, alongside Theakstons Brewery.

In October last year Helen left the brewery and set up her own marketing consultancy business.  A few months in she realised she was loving the flexibility of working for herself but was missing working with a team. And the rest as they say is history.

Helen, her husband and two sons, Daniel 12 and Oliver, 7 going on 15 (!) live in Scruton. Outside work Helen’s schedule is pretty busy managing her children’s social lives, helping her husband with his fledgling business, but always has time for friends and the occasional spa day!

Rupert Spiers – Sales Negotiator, Barnard Castle

Rupert was born in Salisbury and grew up in Scotland.  When he left school he went to University to study network engineering whilst working in a remote castle that hosted bespoke weddings.  Following this Rupert took himself off to the USA for a year – specifically the Berkshires in Massachusetts, where he worked as a front desk agent for a country resort.

On his return family asked him to assist with their hotel in Yorkshire, which brought him to the area.  After a couple of years Rupert then joined a company specialising in property buying services for those in the Armed Forces, which was his introduction to the property world.

Following 5 successful years with the company Rupert has chosen to progress further within the industry and joined GSC Grays earlier this month.  Outside of work Rupert shares his other half’s passion for equestrian and eventing. He also enjoys technology (bit of a geek in that department), cinema and enjoying our beautiful countryside.

Alison Taylor – Administrator, Stokesley

Alison is a much travelled Leeds girl with a career that started in retail and buying with Morrison’s Supermarkets, followed by moves over the years that have taken her down to Surrey and Kent as a Hospitality Manager and on to be a Retail Development Manager in a beautiful private school in Godalming; which was reminiscent of walking onto the set of a Harry Potter movie every day… Several years later Alison moved back ‘up north’ to run a Lingerie business in South Yorkshire. Stokesley is her furthest northern posting to date and she was drawn here by her partner’s home roots.

Elements of her previous roles seem to be coming in handy as she settles into her latest challenge.  She has settled in well with the Stokesley office and is looking forward to meeting colleagues from other branches soon.

Alison is a lover of the great outdoors – camping, dog walking, jogging, cycling, barbecuing, gardening etc. – and a bit of a foodie, enjoying cooking and eating out in equal proportions. Oh, and she has been known to enjoy the occasional glass of wine too!

Carolyne Cook – Office Assistant, Hamsterley

Carolyne was born in Newcastle Upon Tyne and moved to London aged 18 for a year and worked as a florist. Carolyn then returned to the North East, living in Hexham and moved to Hamsterley eight years ago.

In addition to working for GSC Grays, Carolyne is employed by Nepacs as a project worker at HMYOI  Deerbolt. She is a mother of three children and still manages to find some spare time to enjoy horse riding with her daughter, and walking her friend’s dog. Also, Carolyne is a volunteer at Kynren, dressing the horses and their riders in between scenes.
