Improved Permitted Development Rights

The Housing Minister, Dominic Raab, has announced a relaxation of permitted development rights which will allow existing agricultural buildings to be converted to up to five new homes rather than the three currently permitted. The new rules will allow for up to three large homes extending to 465m², up to five smaller homes of 100m² each, or a mixture of both.

In addition, rules for new agricultural buildings have been relaxed for an increased size of 1,000m² from 465m² permitted previously.

All of these rights fall under permitted development which, with some exceptions, can allow certain works without the need to make a planning application.
