Property market to remain buoyant despite gloomy predictions

Tim Leonard, regional agency manager at GSC Grays, is confident that despite gloomy predictions the property market in 2023 will remain buoyant with higher numbers of buyers and sellers than a year ago.

The news comes as Troutbeck Cottage, a stunning five-bedroom property in the exceptional village of Potto near Northallerton – noted by The Sunday Times as one of the top UK villages in which to live – has come to market for offers in excess of £925,000.

Tim, who has more than over 28 years’ of experience in the residential property market, said: “Despite many headlines reporting Doom and Gloom, on the ground, we are seeing a different story. Both buyers and sellers are returning in higher numbers than this time last year, with activity leading to the ‘Number of Sales Agreed’ hitting similar levels as February 2022.

“That is a  key takeaway from the recent March Housing Insight Report and what we are seeing across the board is a resilient market with an increasing number of buyers and sellers helped by a growing number of mortgage products.”

Troutbeck Cottage is a five-bedroom detached home tucked away in a secluded location in Potto with paths and bridleways directly into the North York Moors National Park. Set in 1.44 acres, including a paddock and stables, the house features a living room with a large Inglenook fireplace, an open-plan kitchen, breakfast and garden room.

The private gravelled drive of Troutbeck Cottage opens to a parking and turning area which is large enough for a horsebox and trailers as well as a number of other vehicles.

Potto, with a population of just 300 people, has a restaurant and a village hall gifted by Victorian shipbuilding and steelmaking magnate Joseph Richardson, who lived at Potto Hall, built in 1850. It boasts excellent road links to the A19, A66 and A1 providing access to Teesside, Newcastle, Durham, York, Harrogate and Leeds. Direct train services from Northallerton and Darlington to London Kings Cross, Manchester and Edinburgh and nearby International airports include Teesside International, Newcastle and Leeds Bradford.

Troutbeck Cottage is currently on the market with GSC Grays Stokesley branch with a guide price of £925,000. Tel: 01642 710742.
