The Farming in Protected Landscapes (FiPL) programme has been extended.

The Farming in Protected Landscapes (FiPL) programme has been extended until March 2026, offering farmers and landowners a valuable opportunity to access funding for projects within National Parks and National Landscapes (formerly known as Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, or AONBs).

At GSC Grays, we understand the right advice can make all the difference. The key is understanding which schemes your farm is eligible for, whether your project qualifies, and whether there are alternative options that could be more efficient or cost-effective.

The Programme can help fund projects that provide value for money and meet at least one of the four FiPL outcomes:

  • Climate
  • Nature
  • People
  • Place

Our consultants have extensive experience in guiding you through the application process. The FiPL programme can provide up to 100% funding for projects that aim to protect or enhance the local landscape, community and climate. Successful applications may include plans to develop farm diversification, restore historic buildings/features on a farm, reduce carbon emissions or support habitat creation.

Each FiPL area will hold a series of assessment panels over the coming months to decide on successful projects, with the expectation that projects must be delivered and funding claimed by the end of February 2026.

To date, we have helped our clients secure over £40 million in funding through programmes such as Countryside Stewardship and the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI).

The recent and unexpected closure of SFI 2024 is a reminder that funding schemes can change or close with little warning. We would encourage all farmers and landowners to make the most of funding opportunities while they are available.
