North Yorkshire Call for Sites Reopens Until June 2026

North Yorkshire Council has officially reopened its Call for Sites for its Local Plan, with submissions now closing on 22nd June 2026. This presents a valuable opportunity for landowners to put forward sites for consideration in the emerging Local Plan – potentially unlocking future development allocation and long-term value.

A Timely Opportunity for Landowners

For landowners across North Yorkshire, particularly those with land on the edge of towns and villages, this is a key moment in the planning cycle. Sites that are well-related to existing settlements, have access to services and infrastructure, or offer sustainable growth opportunities are especially likely to attract interest from the Local Planning Authority. There is also growing emphasis on land that can support strategic expansion, including areas influenced by infrastructure improvements such as the A19 corridor.

Previous Submissions

It is important to note that land submitted in a previous Call for Sites, which closed in November 2025, does not need to be re-submitted. These sites remain under consideration as part of the Council’s evidence base. However, this latest window provides an opportunity for new sites – or for landowners who may not have previously engaged with the process – to bring forward land with development potential.

Act Early to Maximise Success

Following the creation of North Yorkshire Council in 2023, a North Yorkshire Local Plan is in development – merging existing plans from abolished district councils. As work progresses on the wider plan, early engagement with the process is crucial. Promoting land at this stage allows it to be properly assessed and increases its prospects for being included in future allocations.
