Ride The Night

‘On Saturday 28th May GSC Grays Director Lucinda Riddell, alongside Guy’s wife Claire, took part in ‘Ride The Night’ to raise funds for Women’s Cancer Charities Breast Cancer Care, Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust and Ovarian Cancer Action.  The 100km  night time ride took Lucinda and Claire past famous landmarks including Westminster Abbey, Trafalgar Square and Buckingham Palace! Lucinda confirmed ‘It was challenging riding throughout the night, but Claire and I managed to get in plenty of training before the 28th! To date we have raised over £900, which has helped Women V Cancer Ride the Night raise over £1.1 million to date.

Coast to Coast Cycle

Continuing his successful fund-raising for the RFU Injured Players Foundation David Gray’s son James has decided to cycle the Coast to Coast in July and he has coaxed one of his tutors from school and his mum Emma into doing it with him! James suffered a nasty neck injury during a school rugby game and as a consequence of this and the help he subsequently received from the IPF, James set about raising funds to support the charity.  After meeting some of the injured players he personally helped following his last fundraising efforts, James has decided that he’d like to raise more money for the RFU Injured Players Foundation and cycling is his chosen challenge this year.

Emma & James will be leaving Whitehaven on Monday 11th (at 6.30am!!) and cycling 65 miles to Lazonby, where they will be staying with friends. They will be cycling through some of the most dramatic scenery in the country – through the heart of the Lakes and Keswick and then up through Whinlatter Forest, skirting Penrith and up to Lazonby.

Day 2 will take them up Hartside (the lungs will be burning at this point) and then over to Nenthead, Rookhope and finishing at the top (that’s the plan anyway) of Crawleyside Bank in Stanhope.

Day 3 will hopefully be mainly downhill where they will cycle along the Waskerley Way and across to Sunderland. They aim to finish at around 3pm at Roker marina.

All in all, 135 miles!   Please don’t feel obliged, but for those who wish to support the IPF, James’ Just Giving page is: https://www.justgiving.com/James-Gray32
