Are Estate Agents ignoring potential buyers by not following up ALL portal leads?

A recent article in the Property Industry Eye (January 2017), reported that up to one-third of all property portal requests for registration are ignored by agents.

New REAPIT research indicates only 7.5% of portal leads are converted into offers or instructions!

Agents need to maximize the 92.5% of unexploited market opportunities.  A positive and proactive approach to portal leads will, without doubt, lead to an increase in converted sales or tenancies.

We have all seen leads of dubious quality; giving telephone numbers like “000000000” and “123456789” or “we need a house in the next 10 years within 300 miles radius of Stokesley”, etc.  These are genuine examples from some of the agency portals (including Rightmove & OnTheMarket).  But this should not be an excuse to ignore a valuable resource.

In order to provide the very best service your agent must not be complacent or intimidated by technology.  Agents should always be conscious of the wealth of opportunities that technology has created.  Portal leads and social media offer huge potential to increase business and maximize exposure.  Why put yourself at a disadvantage in the market place by ignoring them!
